Where It All Began

Finnieston Clothing was founded in 2018 with a simple conviction: Glasgow deserved a clothing brand that reflected its character. Not the clichés, not the postcard version, but the real Glasgow. The Glasgow built on industry, ingenuity, and a stubborn refusal to do things halfway. The Glasgow that shaped ships, shaped culture, and shaped people with grit in their hands and pride in their work.

Opening our first store, the FCL Concept Store in March 2021, we have created a home for the Finnieston brand and our community, and as of 2025 have signed a new 5 year lease as we continue to grow!

Our name comes from the Finnieston district, once the beating heart of the Clyde shipyards. It was a place where steel met skill, where welders and riveters carved out a legacy that travelled the world. That heritage is the foundation of everything we create. We honour it not by looking back, but by building forward.

 

From Local Idea to Growing Brand

What began as a small collection inspired by traditional workwear quickly grew into a full lifestyle brand. The early days were spent sketching designs influenced by utility gear, outdoor clothing, and the rugged functionality of garments built to last. As word spread, so did our community. People connected with the authenticity, the craftsmanship, and the unmistakable Glasgow attitude woven into every piece.

Today, Finnieston Clothing is worn far beyond the West End. Yet the spirit remains the same. Every collection is designed with purpose, built with integrity, and shaped by the landscapes and labour that define Scotland.
