Our recent shoot took place in the South side of the city, and the friendly face of our campaign is the inimitable Bemz, a talented hiphop artist and local hero. Read on to find out a little more about the man and the origins of his successful 'M4 Cup' event...

Q. What drives you to make music?
A. Life really, it would feel very weird and a little bit dull if I didn’t. Music is my safe space, music allows me to be vulnerable which is important to me.

Q. What can a BEMZ gig offer that others can't?
A. A community coming together to celebrate what we’ve all accomplished together.

Q. Tell me about the M4 Cup?
A. Mental health is a big thing for me and so is football. I was filming a music video for my song Zidane and it was literally me and my friends playing football. What most didn’t know was that I was going through a very tough time at that point. After I finished playing and filming I realised how amazing it was to be out with my friends playing football and having a laugh. So me being me, decided to create a football tournament to raise money for a local men’s mental health charity. It brought the community together, we all played football and had a laugh (my team didn’t win though), raised money for a good cause and it was great.

Q. What does authenticity mean to you?
A. Just means being true with yourself which allows you to be confident in whatever you decide to do.
Q. What does purpose mean to you?
A. Purpose means a reason to live and keep going. It’s the reason you get out of bed, go do that job you don’t want to do & reason you stay motivated even when life is lifing. I find my purpose in my daughter, Nova. For her anything is possible
