At Finnieston our mission is to create the best apparel possible using high quality materials and responsible manufacture. We’ve been on a huge journey since the early days but our unwavering commitment to quality, durability, honesty and responsibility remain at the very core of our philosophy.

We’ve used UK and more specifically Scottish manufacture since day one, and a lot of our quality is derived from the amazing textile industry right here at home. Halley Stevensons Mill in Dundee, world leaders in Waxed Cotton have provided innovative fabrics for our Outerwear. A handful of mills across the country make our lambswool scarves and iconic beanies. That said, our organic cotton Tee Shirts Sweatshirts and Shirt range are made in some of the best factories in the EU. Why? The sheer quality of the garments and craftsmanship from Portugal speaks for itself. We wouldn’t choose to manufacture these closer to home just for the sake of it, quality always comes first!

This is why when it comes to knitwear, Scotland’s world famous textile heritage makes it the obvious choice for our range of winter staples. Our commitment to bricks and mortar is just as serious our commitment to support local manufacture, a ‘Made in Scotland’ capsule has always been a goal for us and we’re happy to announce the arrival of our long anticipated ‘40k Away’ collection, all made within 40 kilometres of our Concept Store in Glasgow’s West End.

The Bilsland Wool Bomber was constructed by Hancock of Scotland, just East of Glasgow using Abraham Moon & Sons herringbone wool fabric, a smart contemporary and simplistic silhouette, with minimal branding for a clean sophisticated look.

The Stewarton knit collection was made in the eponymous town just South of Glasgow. Made up of a Crew Knit and Full Zip Knit was a simple formula: Offer timeless knitwear pieces designed with utility in mind. A close fit, the chunky rib collar, cuff and hem allow for comfortable movement and keep the draughts out. Both the Full Zip and Crew Knit Stewarton carry boiled wool pocketing and elbow reinforcement, a nod to Finnieston’s workwear roots. Boiled wool as an element was also something used in old military garments, as the boiling process makes the wool become stronger and more compact, thus giving it more longevity. We want your knitwear to last a very long time indeed. We took an 80/20 blend of Wool/Polyamide for the reason that it wears better than wool alone, retains its shape and overall because of that small portion of synthetic content, has better durability and performance.

In addition to these new articles of clothing, all of our lambswool Beanies and Scarves are manufactured within 40k of the store and can be found amongst the latest arrivals, in some cases manufactured within a stone’s throw of one another in different Ayrshire factories!

We’re delighted to reintroduce Scottish knitwear to Finnieston Clothing, and as we forge ahead with our plans we hope the success of the 40k Away collection allows us to develop and grow the size of our Made in Scotland range!
